  • If it is your hobby then what would be your reaction to that? Everyone is different,i just want to see the responses \n\n

  • Interesting viewpoint. I guess it depends on who you are though, there are levels like those who analyze everything, those who get way into the history and the like, but i get it,everyone is different! \n\n

  • Things like listening to music, reading books, watching movies, driving cars and eating don't feel like hobbies to me by themselves. They're things that basically everyone does as part of everyday life. But some people take a deeper interest in those things than usual, does it then become a hobby? Is there a difference between a hobby and an interest? I have a deep interest in music, but maybe the fact that I've dedicated time to hunting for interesting albums, reading biographies, organising my iTunes library, going to concerts etc., would make it my “hobby”. I guess I don't really think of it that way. \n\n I read lots of books but that doesn't really feel like a hobby. Most adults drive a car, but some are passionate about particular kinds of car. I eat simple convenient meals to have more time for other stuff, but some people love cooking and exploring new ingredients. Would you call these everyday things hobbies >>4? Compared to things like stamp collecting. Or maybe I just don't what a hobby is heh. \n\n

  • Just walking around doesn’t make you a hiker. If you listen to lots of music, collect it, read up on it, know the lore behind it, are really invested in it, then it’s a hobby. \n\n

  • >>6 Yeah that's what I was waffling about, so to go back to OP, if someone tells me that listening to music "isn't a hobby" (6) I say whateverrrr! \n\n

  • A hobby doesn't need to have a formal definition. If you spend time doing something you enjoy and put a significant amount of thought and time into it, then it's a hobby. \n\n I think it's when you get to the next "layer" above how the average person thinks about a certain thing. For example, the average person might cook for himself every day. A hobbyist might spend time thinking about what would be the most interesting thing to cook, how he could improve his techniques. He starts to think about the "meta" of the topic more. And whatever it is that he does, it's something that gives him energy and purpose in life. \n\n So definitely there are people out there who have listening to music as a hobby. \n\n
