• --- I'm ready to say,"forget it" with American politics ---

 • I dislike our current president, but im tired of caring about anything, boss. I love my family members even if we disagree. I think i might not even vote midterms and let fate decide for me. Am i alone in not caring anymore? I'm done,i just want to live life and ignore everything. \n\n

 • Unfortunately this is the mindset that put us here in the first place. Even if you tune out of everything else, try to get out to vote if you can. I forget the exact numbers but the amount of people who just didn't vote, both for 2016 and this past time, are really staggering. \n\n I'd also greatly suggest getting off of social media, if you're on it currently. They've set it up to try their absolute best to try and make you overwhelmed, depressed and ultimately inactive when it comes to any sort of social or political issue. By showing you all of the world's problems all the time they're trying to get you to feel utterly incapable of enacting real change in the world, but that is just an illusion, I think. \n\n My anonymous counsel is that you're not wrong in feeling overwhelmed or tired of caring, but I'd challenge you to try not to completely succumb to apathy, since that's the one single thing that these evil shits upstairs are banking on. Try and build yourself and your immediate community, vote on everything you can, and then see what fate/luck/whatever has in store for you. I've been living a lot happier and I think actually making some positive changes for people around me since I really committed to that. \n\n

 • Honestly I'm just kinda done watching the news and even going on twitter/X/whatever it wants to call itself, everything is stressful and there's always some new horrible event that everyone is going to argue to the death about. It sucks that we're so divided now, arguably more divided than the civil war, yet some how we aren't in one by some miracle, even though people openly wish for others with opposing views to be drone struck or even have their towns nuked. \n\n It seems a lot like everyone's waiting for the second they can kill each other and get away with it, and everyone's a god damn psychopath now. There really isn't much hope for the public now. \n\n

 • Just when you think it can’t get worse, it does. \n\n

 • Story of my life... story of all our lives I guess now that I observe on this site. \n\n

 • My boomer mother is basically a slave to MSNOW (formerly MSNBC) and facebook algorithms, she gets pissed of at whatever they want their viewers to be pissed off at, and it really sucks. All she's doing each day is watching the that, doomscrolling or some shitty TV show about ghosts or home improvement or some shit. \n\n

 • >>6 Man that sucks, honestly hope your mom gets better.I'd honestly prefer her to watch stuff about ghosts and Home Improvement over political bs if i was in your shoes,at least the former things i mentioned sound more fun. Maybe we should watch more entertaining things over crap that makes us feel bad... \n\n

 • We didn't have social media back then, at least not in the same form it is now with sites like twitter, stuff was divided up into lots of chat rooms, forums and usenet groups. Now everyone just goes on twitter and gets mad at what the algorithm tells them to, they try to leave for Bluesky, but that's basically just another twitter. Something tells me we were never meant to be like this. \n\n
